Learning Objectives

UNIT 1: Identifying the Unwritten Norms

Upon completion of this unit, participants will be able to:

  1. State the key to quality.
  2. Describe the comfort I've attached to my prior skills and knowledge which impedes change.
  3. Define the concept, "You don't need to be sick to get better."
  4. Define the concept, "If it ain't broke you haven't looked hard enough yet!"
  5. Explain why attitudes and habits are what drive the culture.
  6. List the unwritten norms.
  7. Discern why a group of people working together is success.
  8. Explain the difference between teams who do great things and those who just plod along.

UNIT 2: Gaining Understanding Through Communication

Upon completion of this unit, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the importance of nonverbal communication.
  2. Describe how you sell yourself to your team.
  3. Define "understanding."
  4. Demonstrate the "understanding response."
  5. Explain the importance of verbal communication.

UNIT 3: Breaking Old Barriers

Upon completion of this unit, participants will be able to:

  1. List the types of barriers we have in our lives.
  2. Explain how we can learn to "love the gap."
  3. Describe the difference between breaking barriers in the 90's and how they have been broken in the past.
  4. Understand the concept of "Ready, fire, aim!"

UNIT 4: Measures of Key People

Upon completion of this unit, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe how key team members are identified.
  2. Recall the measures of key people.
  3. Explain how the measures of key people can help a team grow.

UNIT 5: Agreeing on Shared Values

Upon completion of this unit, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate and describe what happens when we don't value teaming.
  2. Describe what happens when values and goals are in conflict.
  3. Define the silent majority.
  4. Identify the key values in your organization.
  5. Identify the shared values that help the team and team members grow.

UNIT 6: Developing Team Esteem

Upon completion of this unit, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain how to praise effort versus only praising the results.
  2. Demonstrate how to daily show concern for others.
